Halloween Eve 07

As most of you know, Tuesday night, the 30th .. we were supposed to go to the towns "Spooktacular" event and then trick-or-treating.. Well, that wasn't the case.

While we were outside waiting for the kids' grandma to arrive, Cole suddenly fell and ended up having a seizure. I'm not sure how I was able to stay clear headed enough to call 911 .. but, nevertheless, I did. The police arrived first, followed closely by the fire department and then the paramedics. Cole was loaded up into the ambulance with myself and Mehkaelie rode with her grandma. When we got to the hospital there were a series of tests done including a catscan, urine test, blood tests, etc. to rule out anything bad. All the tests came back clear. Thank God.

While we were waiting for tests and such, I managed to snap a few, 50+, pictures. I will now share with you some of those pictures... in story form.

We arrived, had a few tests run, and were settled in at about

We were in room

Mehkaelie really wanted to take care of her baby brother. She was so great through this whole thing. She really only complained once or twice when she realized we had missed the festivities. But, then she would say something so sweet, like, how she wanted Cole to be okay. She even sung songs to him. Once he was feeling better, we got a few more pictures..

He was such a brave boy. He even showed me his battle scars.

At about

we were waiting for the results from the tests, and I took a shot of the view from our room..

Once we finally got to leave, the building outside looked too cool to not snap a shot of..

as did the ambulance turn around parking area..

We did get to stop by the kids' grandparents for a little bit to pick up a Halloween goodie bag for each of them.. that was at

Shortly there after we came home, bathed the kids, and put them to bed.

I am feeling a little better now .. Cole is acting like his same little ornery self .. and I love it.

His follow up appt and EEG .. or is it EKG? .. The brain scan one .. is scheduled for Friday, the 2nd at 10:30 AM .. so, expect another update then.

Hope you all had a better Halloween than us. Happy November!

Just to amuse myself..

Friends. You all never fail to amuse me. I take time to post blogs, letting you all know what's going on in this chaos that I call life, and instead of leaving comments, you IM and/or text me and "reply" to what I've said here, there. I suppose it does work, though.. If I tell one of you something, and not the other, I usually get an earful (or IMfull or textfull) of it later. This way, you all "hear" the same things, and whilst IM/texting me are able to ask for me to elaborate on said event.

Lots of cleaning going on this weekend. Of course. It's the last weekend of the month. I am, however, taking 30 minute breaks in between each room so that I don't burn myself out so quickly, like I did yesterday. Yesterday, though, I didn't even finish one room before throwing in the towel and sitting on my butt.

So, this is working out much better today. As you can see below, I've completed two rooms so far this morning. Whoo!

Well I have 7 minutes left to sit so, I'm going to go check in on Gaia until I start on the main living area.

Ciao, lovers.

Sometimes the best thing about love..

is when it's just not there.

Mr. Brooks

Mr. Brooks starring Kevin Costner, Demi Moore, Dane Cook and William Hurt.

This movie is AWESOME. If you are the least bit squeamish, do NOT watch this movie. If you can't handle blood, if you do not like vulgarity, or if you can't handle "edge of your seat" thrillers, this movie is not for you. However, if you do like or can handle all of the above, SEE THIS IMMEDIATELY IF NOT SOONER. Oh my God! I was literally on the edge of my seat a few times watching this movie waiting to see what was going to happen next. I have to say, I didn't see half of what happened coming. It was literally one of those HOLY SHIT DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?! things.. SO GOOD.

Who wants to get lei'd?

So, as I said previously, tomorrow is Hawaiian day at Mehkaelie's school. After searching high and low and not finding anything Hawaiian in the fall, we FINALLY came across these glow in the dark necklaces/bracelets that you string the lei flowers on yourself.. Cute.

This one is kinda bright, but you get the general idea ..

Such pretty flowers :) I'm going to make hair pin/clip things out of them later tonight since I have so many extra flowers..

Here they are all separate and together so you can see the colors..

I bought a bunch since it was so hard for me to find them - figured the teacher could pass them out to the students, she seemed pretty excited about it.

Anyhow - Back to Heroes! Kristen Bell is in tonights episode!! Whoo!

Red Ribbon/Spirit Week

This week (Oct 22-26) is Red Ribbon/Spirit week at Mehkaelie's school. Let's see what all she has, and what I will need to get ..

Monday - Wear your Drug Free shirt or wear red. --She has red shorts .. hmm wonder if that counts ..
Tuesday - "Lei Off Drugs" - Hawaiian shirts and leis -- She doesn't own a Hawaiian shirt or a lei..
Wednesday - Camouflage clothing -- She doesn't own any camo clothing..
Thursday - Favorite Team Shirts -- She doesn't own a team shirt of any kind ..
Friday - School Spirit - Wear Mustang shirt or Mustang colors -- She has a Broncos (Mustang Broncos) teeshirt.

Fantastic. Looks like I need to go shopping..

I robbed a pumpkin patch!

Okay, not really .. obviously, I bought them. Mehkaelie's class is going to be learning about pumpkins next week. Measuring them, talking about the colors, sizes, shapes, etc. and then decorating them come Friday. That should be fun, she's looking forward to it :) Now, if I could just keep them away from them until I get them to the school...

Uncle Cody

So basically anyone that knows me knows that one of my younger brothers, Cody, is in jail. For a while. Well, my dad was down and we were talking about him, Mehkaelie overheard us and decided she wanted to draw Uncle Cody a picture. She drew him. She says "This is Uncle Cody, he's free."

She also signed the back..

She didn't really know him that long before he went in, but she sure does miss him.

Addicted

It's not often that I can say I'm addicted to something. It's not very often that I find anything worth being addicted to, really.
My family, some of my friends, music, movies.. are some of the things I can say that I'm addicted to on some level.
My newest obsession? Gaia Online. For those hardcore RPG'ers (coughthomascough) *ahem* Sorry about that, scratchy throat ;) it may not seem too great to you, however for those of you that like the general concept of RPGs but not necessarily all of the crap that comes with it, this would be pretty perfect for ya. Rosemary turned me onto it just the other day and I have to say I have put in more time on this game than I have doing work haha Oops. So, check it out. If nothing else, I think you'd like the games. Some of them are pretty cute. Jigsaw, Fishing - I haven't really played much outside of those yet haha
Enjoy. Tell me what you think of it. And add me as a friend. My sn on there, is of course, IAmTasiaD.

My oh my ..

And to think .. this was all sent after deleting my spam box at about 2a last night .. haha I guess my penis just isn't big enough :(

I miss you when it rains

I can always hear you when it rains
I can feel your arms around me
Shielding me from the wind
Holding me so tight I can feel your heart beating
I can hear it speed up when it thunders
I can see the smile on your face when the lightning lights up the sky
It's raining again
I can hear you again
I can feel you again
And I miss you again

You can't be a princess without a crown!

Mehkaelie has finished her princess crown! Believe it or not the only part I helped with was writing the word "Princess!" on it. The rest was all her. Even the globs of glitter.. haha I think it turned out pretty cute :) She's very proud of it and can't wait until Halloween.

ChaCha

So, I've got it linked on my blog here, but haven't really said anything about it. I figured I'd do that today.

Have you ever been looking for something and used a search engine such as Google, Ask or Yahoo and gotten 20493 results that weren't relative to what you were looking for? Or you had to scroll through 3 pages to find it? Well, ChaCha is hoping to change all that by using humans to help find the information. If you Search With A Guide (SWAG), you can tell them exactly what it is you're looking for and they will find the info for you. So, instead of having 20493 results that mean nothing to you, you get two or three that are exactly what you're looking for. Sounds pretty awesome, right? Soon, they will be releasing ChaCha to the public on SMS so you can text your question in for a reasonable fee and receive your question right on your cell! How cool is that?

So .. try it out sometime. But be warned, we guides ARE human, so there is always the possibility of mistakes and/or a crappy guide. We can't all be perfect ;)

You can read more about ChaCha here.

Movie Reviews

Evan Almighty
Starring: Steve Carell, Morgan Freeman, Lauren Graham, Wanda Sykes

Awesome cast. Even more awesome movie! This movie was insanely hilarious! Seriously there are maybe three parts that you aren't laughing. A friend of mine said her and her husband had to actually pause it because they were laughing so hard lol It's also clean, so you don't have to worry about if your children can watch it. It is definitely a family night movie!

Reign Over Me
Starring: Adam Sandler, Don Cheadle, Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler

Again, an awesome cast. And an even more awesome movie. This movie had a very nice balance of funny/serious. Adam Sandler held true to his hilarity but was also very convincing as a heartbroken widower. Literally laughed and cried during this movie. Definitely recommend this one.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Check out this site (or click the ribbon) for info on what it's about and what you can do to help!

Watch for the pink ribbons when you're shopping at your favorite stores in town or online. A lot of places are donating X% of sales to breast cancer research.

We all love boobs! Let's help protect them!

It's also National Cyber Security Awareness Month! To find out more about it and what you can do to stay safe and keep your children safe online, please visit the website or click the lock.
There's so many crazies out there, let's do what we can to keep them out of our homes!

And last but most definitely not least, it is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month! Too many people stay quiet about this issue because they feel like it's not their place to say anything. But it is. If you know of anyone that is being abused, it is your responsibility to report it! Visit the website for more information or click the heart.

Randomness that is my life

There is this house on the way to Mehkaelie's school that always has something random in their front yard. Shoes, clothes, trash, underwear.. The items are never there more than a day when they are swapped out by the next something. This has become kind of a game for my daughter and I as we take her to and from school. See what's in the yard today. So far, this week, we've seen shoes, a roller skate, and panties.

--

I've decided what kind of tattoo I want. I just don't know how I want it to look .. I want it to include me, Mehkaelie, and Cole's astrological signs/symbols. What's so hard about that, one might inquire.. Mehkaelie and I share the same sign. We're both Leo's. So, my little oddball Cole the Cancer, is kind of just hangin' around..

--

What else .. I need to write to my brother, Cody. I miss him a lot. There's a lot I want to talk about with him, I just don't know how to write it down. Luckily, I hooked my printer back up, so I can just type it up this time haha

--

Okay .. I think that's about it for now. I'm going to go find something to munch on and grab some diet soda.

Blaze

I finally finished my book! I've only been reading it for a couple months now! lol Took me forever to find time to sit and read it! Eventually I just had to make the time, and finally I've finished. So .. What did I think of it?

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't slow, so it kept my attention, which is good since I get bored easily. It wasn't so fast-paced that you were confused, though.
It went back and forth between the chapters of the then and now to fill in gaps and what-not, which I thought was pretty awesome.
While the main character in the story is a criminal, you can't help but fall in love with him. He is huge and mentally slow (due to his fathers hand) but he has so much love and compassion in him that you can just feel when reading the story.
So, would I recommend this book to anyone? No. Not anyone. I do not think that just "anyone" could get into this story. I think if you can easily feel compassion for another person, no matter what their circumstance, and if you can look past "what they do" to "who they are".. this may be the book for you.

If you are easily offended by crude humor/language, you might want to steer clear of this one. It is, after-all, a Stephen King/Richard Bachman book.

Blog Action Day

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.

Basically - On Monday, October 15, post a blog or four about the environment. Doesn't matter what you post, pictures/videos/stories/whatever. Point of the day is to raise awareness about the environment.

In fourteen hundred ninety-two...

IN 1492

In fourteen hundred ninety-two
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

He had three ships and left from Spain;
He sailed through sunshine, wind and rain.

He sailed by night; he sailed by day;
He used the stars to find his way.

A compass also helped him know
How to find the way to go.

Ninety sailors were on board;
Some men worked while others snored.

Then the workers went to sleep;
And others watched the ocean deep.

Day after day they looked for land;
They dreamed of trees and rocks and sand.

October 12 their dream came true,
You never saw a happier crew!

"Indians! Indians!" Columbus cried;
His heart was filled with joyful pride.

But "India" the land was not;
It was the Bahamas, and it was hot.

The Arakawa natives were very nice;
They gave the sailors food and spice.

Columbus sailed on to find some gold
To bring back home, as he'd been told.

He made the trip again and again,
Trading gold to bring to Spain.

The first American? No, not quite.
But Columbus was brave, and he was bright.

Today we celebrate Christopher Columbus. Although he didn't actually "discover" the Americas, his voyages led to awareness and therefore the establishment of other cultures to the New World.

Happy Columbus Day!

So .. How much frill DOES it take?

Not as much as it would seem! Didn't even use 2 out of the 3 frilly stuffs I bought lol

Mehkaelie loves it, and that's what counts. I definitely rushed it, trying to get it done in one day, oops. Oh well - it is wearable for one Halloween!

There is a crown coming soon! Mehkaelie still has to decorate it :) And please excuse the bed-head-hair going on haha She hasn't brushed it since she's gotten up :P

Trees

I was looking out the window in my bathroom the other day at the sun setting behind the trees. Well, it wasn't setting setting as in oooo pretty night sky! It was just, getting late evening and starting to go behind the trees, making the branches and leaves really pop. So, I snapped a few shots. I love how they're almost silhouettes in the sky. :)

I love trees. I think they're natures way of telling us that no matter how shitty things get, if they can last through it, so can we. That may be completely cheesy, but, hey, what's life without a little cheese? ;)

And, as I was taking the pictures, I noticed across "the way" that this bundle of trees looked .. evil .. lol Can you see the horns?

How much frill does it take ..

.. to make a little girl a princess?

Our first non-family birthday party!

So, we've been to a lot of birthday parties, but they were all for family members lol

Today we had our first non-family birthday party! Mehkaelie had a blast! She really had a chance to get in with everyone and mingle. She usually hangs around one girl, but today she really played with everyone. Although, she did keep especially close tabs on her "best friend" hehe It was cute.

They got to make their own pizzas! It was cute seeing how the girls reacted to getting dough on them haha Some of them were okay with it, others felt the need to wash, immediately! Not many of the kids liked the pizza they made to well, but when it was cake/ice cream time they, of course, got into that!

The party was at a church in, what I'm guessing, is the youth/college center area? It had a little diner/kitchen as well as TV/games/couches and other sitting. It was very cute.

I got to meet a few of the moms and interact with the ones I already knew a little more. So that was neat.

So, overall, it was a blast. I'm so proud of Mehkaelie for really getting in there and playing with everyone!

Movies you should see this holiday season

Halloween is coming! Hooray!

Lots of people seem to get in a scary/thriller/action movie watching mood around this time. So.. I'm going to make a list of the ones that I think you should see this holiday season!

Keep in mind, these aren't in any particular order. And they're not going to be "great horror movies of all times" and what-not, they're actually just going to be movies I've seen [somewhat] recently and highly recommend!

1. 1408
2. Dead Silence
3. The Exorcism of Emily Rose - I don't care what anyone says, this movie freaked me out.
4. Halloween (2007) - if you can find a theater still playing this, go see it!
5. Disturbia- this one wasn't OMG scary, but it was Holy Crap what just happened?!
6. Sleepers - more of a thriller/drama but soooo good if you can handle it.
7. The Saw movies, all of them, in order.
8. The Number 23
9. Next - Okay, not scary at all but so freaking good and actiony
10. Shooter - again, not scary, but awesome!

So there ya go. My 10 movies I think you should see in October. Enjoy them. And let me know what you think/thought!

1408

Freaky.

That's all you can say about that.

This movie was awesome. It definitely made me go WTH?! a few times and OMG!! a few more. It was .. yes, again, awesome. I enjoyed it. If you like creepy movies, this one will do it for you. Even Colin, who didn't like Dead Silence, by the way if you haven't seen this movie, SEE IT! It will scare the shit out of you. Anyhow, even he liked 1408. So, not really that that tells you anything, but, it's good!

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Just got finished watching Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer starring, well, all the same people from the first one.

Awesome movie! The only thing I didn't like .. Sue Storm (Jessica Alba) looked .. unnatural. Almost to the point that it was distracting. Otherwise, it wasn't bad.

Awesome effects!

Also, just want to add, for those Hellboy fans out there, the man that plays Abe Sapien, Doug Jones, plays the Silver Surfer in this movie as well. Awesome. Although, the voice was done by Laurence Fishburne haha.

So, see it? Definitely. But, make sure to watch the first one first. ;)
