Goodbye 2007

Another year gone. Can you believe it?!

This year has been one crazy ride for me and my family.

Some of the great things that happened this year - Mehkaelie started kindergarten and has loved it. She's doing super well and absolutely loves to read now. Cole started potty training, and while he's not potty trained, he's trying. He has also started talking in full sentences!

This year hasn't been too bad for us. We have lost family, but, we have also gained family.
We've all made new friends this year and have more or less managed to keep a hold of the old ones!

I don't believe in "resolutions". I don't think you should set yourself up for things unless you are more than 110% sure you can achieve them. I do however think that everyone should have hopes and therefore, here are a few of mine for 2008.

I hope this year keeps us all healthy and happy.
I hope Mehkaelie learns more, makes more friends, and enjoys the remainder of her Kindergarten year. I also hope that we all handle the change to First Grade!! well. I hope she gets a good teacher. I hope she laughs more than she cries, and learns to love a little deeper as she gets a little older. I hope she knows every day how much I love her.
I hope Cole potty trains this year. I hope he learns how to play better with his sister and learns to share a little more. I also hope he laughs more than he cries. I hope he knows how much I love him and I hope he learns something new, at least every month!
I hope I will have the energy and motivation to lose weight and get into shape. I hope I will have the ability to stay calm when things get crazy. I hope I will have the ability to remove things that are toxic from my life and that of my children's and replace them with things that are good for all of us. I hope that this year I learn how to be a better mom, daughter, friend, and sister. I also hope I'll be able to put more into my crafting this year and learn a few more things.

I hope you all had a good 2007. And here's to an even better 2008!

Movie Reviews

Really, this could be lonnnng. But, I'll spare you and keep it short and sweet.

Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium
"Molly Mahoney (Portman) is the awkward and insecure manager of Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, the strangest, most fantastic, most wonderful toy store in the world. But when Mr. Magorium, the 243 year-old eccentric who owns the store (Hoffman), bequeaths the store to her, a dark and ominous change begins to take over the once remarkable Emporium."

This movie was absolutely adorable. One of the best "cute" movies I've seen in a long time. I am definitely going to buy this one and make a family night with it.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets
"Treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates (Cage) looks to discover the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, by uncovering the mystery within the 18 pages missing from assassin John Wilkes Booth's diary."

This movie was awesome! Honestly, I'm not sure if I liked it better than the first one or less than. They're really about the same. Both amazing!

Awake
"Every year, one in 700 people wakes up during surgery. When they planned her husband's murder, they never thought he'd be the one."

Holy. Crap. This movie was crazy! But so good. Since I wasn't entirely sure what it was about except for that part about some people being awake during surgeries, I didn't see half of it coming. Damn. This was a good one.

Alvin and the Chipmunks
"Based on the 1980s cartoon series about a music group of chipmunks comprised of mischievous group leader Alvin; tall and quiet Simon; and chubby, impressionable Theodore."

This one was sooooo cute! Mehkaelie absolutely loved it. I can't tell you how many times she literally laughed out loud. This will be another that we buy and make a family night out of!

FuNkY

Here we go again. In another funk.

I want to be someone else for a while. Swap lives. What was that show that was on... ABC? I think? Wife Swap. For all I know it's still on. Sometimes I really want to do something like that, but, with my luck, I'd get a family worse than mine.

Anyway. I think I'm going to sit and watch Lifetime. Walk through this peanut butter as fast as I can and hope that once I come out on the other side there's something easier, like, water.. or air, air would be best, but I'd settle for water.

Ted's Cafe Escondido

So today we went to Ted's Cafe Escondido here in Oklahoma City.

First impression was that it must be pretty damn good because it was so busy at 3pm. We had a "30 minute wait"! Well, really, I think it only took like 20, but still yet! Anyhow, the sitting area, while crowded, was somewhat nice. The seats weren't bad. Although, I unluckily got placed right by the door, so every time it opened a cold burst of air came in and wrapped around me just as I had gotten warm.
Once we were seated, the mood changed a bit. The tables, while very cute, are also very close together. People bumping into the people behind them when they go to sit down/stand up. Also, the chairs were just crazy uncomfortable. They had these rounded backs that came down onto the seat and rammed you in the hips/butt. The booster seat also didn't fit into the chair right. The chips, queso and salsa came hurriedly to the table and they were gooooood. We had a very nice waiter, he was very on top of things, very friendly. A manager type person came to our table to welcome us since it was our first time and gave us a "free chicken enchilada with sour cream cheese sauce" to sample as we waited. It was pretty damn good. Especially the sour cream sauce stuff. So, that's what I ordered. It came with rice and refried beans with cheese. The kids got chicken and fries.
Food. The food was.. edible. The chicken enchilada things that I got with the cream cheese sauce were pretty darn good. The rice was really dry, not well seasoned. The refried beans with cheese was like a mushy substance of weird. The kids' chicken was decent - a bit dry though, and a tad cold; I stole a bite of Cole's. Although, they didn't seem to agree with me. Neither of them ate much of theirs. The fries were really hard. Over cooked. Neither of them ate much of those either. Poor kids.
So, overall - it wasnt .. awful. But, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.

Wee an update!

So, I know most of you are out and about and don't have time to read blogs much anymore, but, I'm going to go ahead and update.

Lets just do a quickie for now. I might go into more detail later.

My laptop cord snapped completely in half not too long ago. It was quite annoying as I just had it replaced. However, it was under warranty and they were quick about replacing it. Well, about processing the request to replace it. I didn't actually get it until today due to Christmas and all. But, yeah. I did get it, and whooo! Exciting stuff.
As for Christmas. It went well except for the fact that I was miserable. My stomach was completely pissed off at me for whatever reason. I woke up throwing up and then things just progressed and got worse as the day went on. Until about 7:30 when I went to bed. Then things seemed to get even better. The kids had a blast. They were of course spoiled like crazy from everyone around them. Mehkaelie especially loved it. I think mostly because she kind of figured out what was going on this year. Cole just couldnt get over the tree and lights and such. Everytime he opened a present he said "A BOX!" haha it was really cute.

Cleaning and such today. Getting the mess wiped up from Christmas.

Time to get ready for 2008! Nice! It takes me six months to get the date down, the last six I've finally got it, and then it changes again. Whoo! haha

Anyhow. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. BE SAFE with the upcoming New Year parties and all!

Brrr


Oops

So, I've been neglecting my blog here lately. Sorry!

I'm not sure how busy I've been to really use that as my excuse.. Although, with the upcoming festivities and such, it has been busier than usual. But, in truth.. I've just been in a bit of a funk. Maybe it's the upcoming holidays, and knowing I'm not going home for them.. Maybe not. I don't know. When I find out, though, I may just let you in on the secret!

Either way - I am still alive, and the kids are all doing well. They're looking forward to Christmas. Cole woke up this morning ecstatic that the tree was up (yes, we just got around to putting it up last night) and now won't allow us to turn it off. He gets absolutely broken hearted when the lights go out on the tree. Mehkaelie has been counting down the days to Christmas. She ran into Mr. Claus himself in the McDonald's the other day, so she has been on cloud 9 ever since that. She tells everyone she comes by about it. She's also out of school for a while. THANK GOD. I'm not sure about her, but I needed a break. haha She goes back on Jan 7.

Which brings me to that - Can you believe it's already practically 2008?! Holy crap. It seems like every year goes by faster than the one before it. Is that possible? One of these days I'll be going to bed in one year and waking up in the next. Holy geez.

So, it's snowing here. Yee-haw. Always a few days early or late for Christmas anymore. Who knows, though. Maybe it will stay cold enough for the snow to stick around until Christmas.

Well, now's my time to go. Cole is trying to play with the plug-in on the tree.

I Am Legend

Just got back a bit ago from seeing the movie. It was pretty awesome!

It was really weird through most of it, being as theres one character (through most of it) and all.. But, since the one character was Will Smith it was really awesome. He totally pulled it off. I think it was worth the 30 bucks to go see it. haha

Okay, well that's just about all I've got for you for now. I might post more later.

30 Days with Tasia and stuff

The 30 days with me is going to be cut a little short.
With my laptop down and out, yet again, it's harder to make that happen. The computer I'm using regularly now is prehistoric and crazy slow, so it takes forever for anything to happen haha

Anyhow - On another note - I'm going to see Will Smith's I Am Legend today. It looks so good! I can't wait. We're going to the early show so we can get stuff done today when we get home. So, I need to go finish getting ready. I'll give you a review when I get home, promise!

My 100th Post!

So, this is my 100th post! Whoo! That's nothing compared to what it would be at if I never got rid of it in the first place, but hey, baby steps, right?

Alright, so I obviously didn't just make this post to tell you that this was post numero ciento. No, today I am posting because ..

So, anyhow .. yeah, school's back in. For one day this week. WoOt. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I guess they want them to get as much learning in as possible before the break starts after next week. That and they'll be fined if they call off too many days of school..... haha .. Well unless they get an exempt from the state, which they very well might with all the crap loads of ice we just had blow through. See post below.

Anyhow. I don't wanna gooooo. I wanna stay hooooome. And snuggle up in the blankettttts. Okay. I'm done. Boo.

December 9-12, Days 21-24

So, as most of you know, because you live in Oklahoma, we just had a very nasty ice storm blow through.

Not only did it knock out power and phone lines, etc. It's caused quite a few deaths, as well as sickness. Car wrecks and tons of damage to property, especially trees, roofs, other outdoor plants. We were out for a few days, off and on for a few more. Just got phone, internet and cable back this morning. I do have to say, though.. Cox and OG&E as well as the other companies around the state did an awesome job getting things back together quickly. I know a lot of people are still without power, friends and family of mine, even.. but, they really are working hard, they've called in other crews from other states and they're doing an amazing job as well.

So .. that's where Ive been. I got a bunch of pictures of different things but figured I wouldn't bother flooding this post with them. Instead, I picked my favorites.



Well .. there we go. Crazy stuff. I'm tired. And sick. And now Im going to go lay down. I hope all of you are well..

Day 20, already?!

Can you believe it's already been 20 days since I started this little walk through my life? Gosh. I can't.

So, what do we have today? Well, we had a lot of running around to do today. Lots of random reasons.. The kids felt it necessary to get in a few naps during these ventures.



Aren't they sweet when they sleep? I think so .. They woke up just long enough to spy .. *gasp and dramatic pause* .. none other than Mr. Claus himself!


Can you see him?! We did :) And then, they fell back to sleep.


Too bad. Because they missed an interesting Kraft sign.


So, that was my cold, wet, very, very foggy day.

Day ... 17!

So today .. Man .. Things were crazy today. I guess that's what happens when you have so many dull days. Something happens to shake things up. I woke up this morning and my favorite freezy cup broke. On my way to take Mehkaelie to school my "screen" glass door shattered. On the way to work, my car was totaled.

This is all in succession with waking up multiple times last night with a stomach ache, and waking up again this morning with the same stomach ache. On top of cramps, a headache, having to go to Wal-Mart super early, walking around in shoes that rub my tattoo that is now scabbing over (i know, eww). Man, what a day. I did manage to get a few pictures.

20 shopping days left til' Christmas. Snowman made of Coca-Cola cases. My shattered door and what shattered it. I'll have pictures of my car tomorrow when it's day light out.

Day 16!

Again, not much happened this day. Slightly .. "eh" - I suppose is the way to describe this day. Granted, a few good movies (that I've already seen) came out on DVD today. So, no, I haven't gone to get any of them yet. I think I'm in a funk now. But, I'm pretty sure this is a "girly funk" if you catch my drift. And if you don't, don't worry, you probably wouldn't care to know anyway haha

So, todays pictures I'm going to do a bit differently, instead of putting the image on here, I'm going to just make them clicky for ya, whatcha think? Save room, you don't have to look at the full size of the ones you don't wanna .. groovy?

As in true Tasia Randomness fashion, a picture of keys. I lost mine. I'm using the misters of the house now. It's rather annoying. So damn bulky.
Also, there is this one guy at the coffee shop, that always leaves a crap ton of hot chocolate powder in the bottom of my cups. Every time he's made them, it's been there. There's another guy that works there and has never once left anything on the bottom. So, anyhow, a picture of the powder at the bottom.
And, since it's been a while since I've shown off my beautiful children - here they are in all their perfection. Perfection because the really ornery one is sleeping, and the one that follows very close behind was just about to crash from being so sleepy. So, these were good times!

2w+1d

Well, day 15 didn't have much to report except the day after having a tattoo done, it hurts more than the day of. Nothing excruciating, and generally only when I had to leave and put on a flip flop.

Other than that.. nothing really happened. It's feeling a lot better today, almost don't even notice it's there. Wee. Okay. So.. There we go. Day 15. Wee!

2 Week Mark!

So, what happened today? Well, I got my tattoo!

Instead of going with the mean grrrr looking lion.. Well, let me start here - I asked him if there was anything we could do to make it a bit more feminine and not so grrrr looking. He suggested taking away the main mane around the bottom and seeing if that softened up the face, it did. We took away some of what was on top and the sides as well, rounded out his face and made him look more like a her! We also took away that big squarey thing between his eyes and gave him another Leo symbol, we also gave it more pronounced ears that aren't in this picture.. So, we decided to go with a more feminine look all together, since ,you know, I was going for mother and children! So, after a bit of editing, we came up with this..

I decided to not go with color since it was a smaller tattoo and on my foot.. I thought black would be a lot more classy and stylish I guess.. Plus, I did actually fear that whatever color/s I went with I'd have to work around flip flop colors and such haha

Yes, before anyone makes a comment about the thickness of the first Leo symbol at the top, I know it's thicker than it should be. My leg went crazy and literally jerked out of his hands in a certain spot and unless I wanted to add something else above/around it, there was really nothing else to do .. so, I decided to just have him do it thicker. I personally like it though. And I think the lion really turned out awesome. I'll try and get a better picture sometime when it's light outside.

Pain factor. I know this is what we've all been waiting for! On a scale of 1-10, 1 being didn't hurt at all and 10 being unbearable/giving birth without pain meds - I'd give it 90% of the time a 5, 5% of the time a 6.5 and 5% of the time an 8. The only time it got to where I actually made noise (i.e. OWWWWW) was when he had to go back over the lines to fill in and up at the top of the Leo sign by the bendy part of my foot. Otherwise, it wasn't that bad. It wasn't painless by any means though. But yeah, I have to say, it really, seriously, was not near as bad as I thought it would be or had heard/read about it being. Actually, on the left side of my foot, it actually tickled. And I laughed and my foot shook a bit like it does when someone tickles you. It was weird haha

Anyhow, I really, really like it. :) HONEST opinions are more than welcome :)

PS He made the comment how my feet didn't smell - at all - haha

[Un]Lucky Day 13

Not much to report about Saturday. I cleaned, Cox came to fix our broken cable box, it needed completely replaced. So, we got a new one. Whoo. I was going to get my tattoo last night and then something happened, not sure what. Hopefully getting it today. Although these aren't pictures *I* took, I'm going to show you the images I'm going with..

Keep in mind, I'm not going for realistic, or even the shock factor some people go for. I want it to be simple. I do like simple.

I also made this yesterday. It's one of those hanging door organizers. It was night when I took the picture so the lighting isn't great.. But you get the general idea. I got the idea from BurdaStyle. Yes, I did it a bit differently, but hey, I think it turned out pretty awesome.
