Hello, again

Wow. It's been over a month since I've updated. Shame on me. Sorry about that. Any of you that actually still read this thing haha

Well I guess I really haven't updated because there isn't much going on to report on. Normal family drama, friend drama and people I barely know drama.

The kids are both doing well. Cole will be seeing his neurologist for his first update after starting the Keppra, and he's still doing really well on it. I'm going to see if we can switch to pills or some way to only have to take it once a day if possible. I have a feeling we'll be sticking with twice a day, though. Oh well. It's working, I won't complain. As much as I hate the idea of relying on medication to keep Cole well I'd much rather him be medicated than go back into having seizures for literally days on end. Fuck. That. My baby boy doesn't need to go through that.
Miss Mehkaelie is also doing well. She's still doing extremely well in school. A little too well, actually. She's finishing her work way too early and even her extra 2nd and 3rd grade work she's given. Then she has nothing to do so she starts talking to people. Oops. I had to give her the "it's not fair to the other students if you're talking and they're not able to concentrate on their work" speech. She understood and has started taking a book with her to school so if she finishes everything she can just start reading. I'm glad. The teacher's glad. It's all going well now.
And speaking of school we only have 13 days left. Wow. Less than two weeks and then it's summer break. YAY! I'm excited about it haha Not that we have anything planned for this summer, I just think it will be good to actually get to not worry about doing anything. I miss that lol I'm sure within a few weeks I'll be so bored of not doing anything, though.

We've been having a lot of thunderstorms and just rain lately. I HAVE LOVED IT. I can not even tell you how much I've loved it. I've also needed it. I always feel better when it rains and there has been too much drama to deal with lately. Normal drama, like I said, but just over abundances of it. I'm going to be really sad when the summer really takes over and the only thing raining down is sunshine. It looks pretty in pictures but I'd prefer it to just rain all year. Yes, I realize I need to just move to Washington or Oregon.

What else.. Hrm. Nothing .. Wow this was a boring post. haha

Yup, It's Monday again.

Woke up (two hours early).
Fell in the toilet (Thank you for not putting the seat down, hun).
Took a shower, had to use the kids' body wash (I smell disgustingly sweet now).
Lost my big claw hair clippy (I'm afraid to use my hair tools, I might burn my hair off).
Dropped my toothbrush in the toilet (And I wasn't even done brushing my teeth yet).
My house smells like steak (I know. Ew.).
I stubbed my big toe on a stair (WHO PUT THAT THERE!?).
I hit my head on my desk reaching for my shoe (AGAIN. WHO PUT THAT THERE?!).
I'm starving (And now that I've written this post, I don't have time to have breakfast before I leave).

On the plus side, it's supposed to storm today. PLEASE LET IT STORM TODAY. Otherwise, I might just curl into a ball and cry.

No more face-to-face?

I just finished reading an article about how Twitter is essentially going to be the downfall of face-to-face communication.
To this I must say a big HAH! First of all, what is so wrong about limiting face-to-face communication, anyhow? Half the time you don't want to be standing there talking to the someone you've been forced to interact with, thereby radiating "GO.THE.FUCK.AWAY." vibes toward the person, wishing with everything inside of you that someone would call and tell you their car broke down clear on the other side of town and they desperately need your assistance, and yet you're forced to remain standing there, grinning as bright as a 100 watt light bulb, communing politely and doing your best to remain "socially acceptable". Whereas online, or in text, you have the freedom to simply not reply, set your status to "away" - politely make your excuses to go round up the child who is trying to eat the sofa cushion.. whatever.. And you won't be looked down on for it. The other half of the time, when you don't mind being there with the person you've been placed (not forced) in front of to interact with, things go so much smoother. You aren't counting off how many ugly freckles are on their nose while nodding and smiling politely. You're actually involved in the conversation, doing your best to put in your two cents where it's desired and then the two (or more) of you part on friendly and hopefully even better informed terms, leaving you anticipating (yes, actually looking forward to) seeing that person again for another face-to-face.

IMO, of course people feel more comfortable when they have a moment to digest something that was said, say - delete - resay - redelete - repeat several times, and respond to it on their own time, in their own perfectly thought out words so as not to cause any [further, possibly] conflict. Does that make us "self-absorbed" and controlling? Maybe. Probably so. But why is that a bad thing?

Mom did always say, "Think before you speak."

Water 3

So the other day a friend of mine and I were talking and he informed me that he recently purchased a case of water for 30 some dollars. "No way was a 24pk of water 30 some dollars!" was my reply. After doing a bit of digging, sure enough, 33 bucks for "Smart Water". (Are you kidding me?!) Well you know me, I have to know what is so good about this water.

So, today I decided to do my own little taste test experiment. Those of you who read my old blog may remember my diet soda test.. this is similar to that one.

I found a bottle of Smart Water and paid the $1.88 for a 1.5 liter bottle. That's not bad - might be cheaper just to buy 1.5L bottles if you really like the stuff, hah. I couldn't find any 20oz or I would have gone that route. They did have a pack of 10 20oz bottles for 20 some dollars though. But, nahhh.

Anyhow - I did my test with Aquafina, Smart Water and Nestle Pure Life.

When drank at room temperature I can very nearly see paying 30 bucks for a case of Smart Water. It had a cleaner, more "this is just water" taste when not refrigerated/iced than Aquafina or Nestle.
The Aquafina had a very flat, blugh warm water, taste.
The Nestle tasted horribly of chemicals when at room temp.
- For me, any water that isn't cold is pretty much gross. But it was a pretty easy choice to pick a winner from these three at a less than desirable temp.

When drank after refrigerated, however, things changed quite a bit. After refrigeration the Smart Water tastes almost exactly like the Aquafina did. The Nestle still had a processed taste to it that I really dislike. So, cold or room temp, Nestle just doesn't hold up for me.
When chilled, the Aquafina is very refreshing and "light on your tongue", zero aftertaste.
The Smart Water when chilled wasnt as refreshing but was still no where near bad. It did however have an aftertaste. Again not totally unpleasant but for me, water shouldn't leave a taste after the fact.

Scent of water?
Yes. I sniffed the water.
Nestle smells very chemically altered. Very treated.
Aquafina doesn't exactly have a smell other than "I'm in a plastic bottle". I like this.
Smart Water has a slightly treated scent coupled with the plastic bottle scent.

So, folks. As you can see.. I clearly lean more toward the Aquafina of these three choices.

Would I pay 30+ bucks for a 24pk of water? Doubtful. Especially not when there are other (better) alternatives.

Sorry!

--I should add, Smart Water is an "electrolyte enhanced water".

Aesthetically - I must say, the Smart Water does have a nicer look. I do like the Aquafina label as well, though. The Nestle label is way too cluttered for my liking.
